Fr. Saleem Mousa Goga

    • Born in 1961 in the village of Mehmdiya near Zakho District. His family originally came from the upper village of Sharanish but was displaced after their village was burned.
    • Completed primary education in Zakho before joining Mar Youhanna Al-Habib (St. John) Seminary in Mosul (1973–1980), run by the Dominican friars. He completed high school along with religious studies, French language studies, and his first year of philosophy. However, due to the outbreak of the Iraq-Iran war, he was unable to continue his studies in Rome.
    • Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Production and Metallurgy Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad, in 1986.
    • Graduated from the Theological Course in Baghdad (Center) in 1988.
    • Studied Eastern Spirituality with the Carmelite friars in Baghdad (1992–1995).
    • Emigrated to Australia in June 1996.
    • Obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing and Management Engineering from RMIT University.
    • Studied at the Catholic Theological College (CTC) in Melbourne from 2003 to 2005.
    • Certified and registered in Construction and Management in Melbourne (2003).
    • Ordained as a deacon on July 22, 2005, the day after the consecration of Our Lady Guardian of Plants Chaldean Catholic Church in Melbourne, by His Beatitude Mar Emmanuel III Cardinal Delly.
    • Has been managing a private Construction and Management business since 2003.
    • Has been teaching and overseeing catechism in Mar Aphram Saturday School since his arrival in Australia, along with various other church activities.
    • He was also involved with Nohra Magazine, which was published by Our Lady Guardian of Plants Church, from 1999 to 2009.
    • Earned a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in Melbourne (2021).
    • Married to Mrs. Jiwan Maroky, and they have three children: Sarah, Moses, and Rosaria.
